September 2026 brought more than $565 million into HR Tech across 19 disclosed deals, spanning core HR, recruitment, employee benefits, payroll, workforce compliance and corporate learning.
Three rounds account for more than half of that total: HiBob's $166 million investment led by Salesforce, the largest in the company's history, Thatch's $108 million Series C at a $1 billion valuation, and Metaview's $60 million Series C. The month follows a second quarter that Alpha Work described as the weakest for HR Tech funding in eight years.
The common thread is how AI is moving deeper into the HR stack. HiBob is positioning the workforce data and organizational context held in Bob as infrastructure for AI agents. Metaview is moving from interview notes to agents that source and screen candidates, while Ahron runs its agents across the HR systems companies already own instead of replacing them.

What September tells us
September's 19 rounds cover almost the full employee lifecycle: hiring with Metaview, Jack & Jill and HiringCafe; benefits with Thatch, Corridor, Tundr and Olenbee; payroll and workforce management with Intermezzo and Miter; people operations with Spine and 50skills; and offboarding with BoomerangHR.
The AI angle is also getting more specific. HiBob is positioning its organizational data as infrastructure for AI agents, Ahron runs agents on top of existing HR systems, and 50skills reports more than 4 million workflow actions completed by HR teams in a year. For HR leaders and HRIS buyers, these rounds suggest that the quality and governance of workforce data will matter more as AI agents take on HR workflows.
