HrTech startup: Osmos

Can you tell us about yourself and your role?

Hello, I am Natalia Cebotari, co-founder and CEO of Osmos.

When was Osmos founded?

Osmos was founded in 2023.

Give us a brief introduction to Osmos and its mission.

Osmos helps freelancers, companies, and communities match high-value profiles for 1:1 conversations and network building.

This brings together previously disconnected individuals, fostering deeper connections and increasing overall engagement within the community.

Through our AI-powered matchmaking platform, we aim to transform networking from shallow interactions into meaningful relationships that spark personal and professional growth.

Osmos Metrics

What is your company's North Star metric?

Our North Star metric is the number of meetings scheduled on the platform.

We know from users that these meetings lead to collaborations of all kinds.

They’re not just exchanging business cards—they’re creating meaningful connections, real networks of people who know each other, not just contacts like on LinkedIn or at conferences.

How did your company get started, and what inspired its creation?

Osmos was born from my personal experiences over the years. I’ve built and scaled businesses and made over 9,000 contacts. But despite having such a large network, finding the right person at the right time was still a struggle.

This wasn’t just my problem; many businesses face the same issue—surface-level networking makes it difficult to foster meaningful, productive connections. Initially, we launched Osmos as a B2C platform.

However, we soon started receiving requests from B2B clients—companies, communities, and conferences—who wanted to turn their contacts into real networks where professional relationships could flourish.

That’s the problem Osmos solves.

What HR solutions does your company offer, and how do you AI-power these solutions?

While Osmos is more than an HR platform, it offers a unique solution that helps companies and professionals connect with talent and opportunities more efficiently.

Our AI engine matches people within communities based on Natural Language queries, industry, and interests. Imagine, instead of scrolling through endless profiles of potential candidates or collaborators, you could find the person you need right away. That’s the power of Osmos.

We’re helping HR departments and organizations save time and money by facilitating quicker, more relevant connections.

Please provide key dates in your company's journey.

We officially launched in 2023.

Our first year was spent in test mode, gathering as much feedback as possible from early adopters.

This process allowed us to refine our offering, and we launched it to the public in September 2024.

What is your strategic approach to AI technology: developing proprietary models in-house versus integrating external AI solutions?

We take a hybrid approach. In the beginning, we integrated existing AI technologies into our platform.

At the same time, we’ve been continuously refining our proprietary algorithms and training them based on user feedback.

The more personalized our algorithms become—and the better they understand the needs of our users—the stronger our competitive edge. That’s where our proprietary models play a crucial role.

What were the biggest challenges in integrating AI into your products, and how did you address them? Buy vs Build?

One of the biggest challenges was deciding between buying existing solutions and building our own.

It comes down to your resources and long-term strategy. In some cases, it’s more efficient to adapt an external solution. In others, building from scratch gives you a competitive edge.

For us, the key was striking a balance between the two. It’s not just about creating something better than what’s on the market; it’s about making sure it aligns with our vision and long-term strategy.

How does your company ensure its AI systems are unbiased and ethical?

We take user feedback seriously and use it to continuously refine our algorithms. Our goal is to make sure our AI fosters genuine connections and is free of biases.

For example, we don’t allow social selling on our platform.

We’re not interested in transactional relationships; we want to create an environment where meaningful, long-term relationships can flourish. AI is an ally in helping us achieve that.

What feedback have you received from clients about your solution(s), and how has it shaped your product going forward?

Our early adopters have appreciated how Osmos makes it easy to form valuable connections.

This is crucial for us because it shows we’re on the right track.

The feedback we’ve received has helped us refine our algorithms, enhance the user experience, and further tailor our platform to meet the needs of both individual users and companies.

Can you share a success story that highlights the impact of your technology on a client?

One of my favorite success stories is our partnership with the Innovators Club, which brings together entrepreneurs, investors, mentors, and co-founders.

Together, we built a branded community where members connect in deeper, more meaningful ways.

This has allowed them to find the right partners, share knowledge, and collaborate on projects that deliver tangible results.

It’s exactly what we envisioned for Osmos—creating an environment where relationships can grow and lead to real business outcomes.

What is your vision for the future of HR tech and AI, and what are your company's upcoming goals?

We envision a future where networking is less about the quantity of connections and more about the quality. Technology will play a huge role in making this happen.

Our goal is to continue refining our AI algorithms and make networking enjoyable again, not something people feel defensive about.

In terms of goals, we’re aiming to reach 10,000 B2C and 100 B2B users by the end of next year.

We’re also focused on continually improving the platform and introducing new features that further enhance the user experience.

What key milestones has your company achieved so far?

We’ve grown from 100 to over 3,000 users, including executives from companies like Google and Revolut.

We’ve facilitated more than 20,000 meaningful connections, and on the B2B side, we’ve secured key clients.

We also integrated our platform with a major conference that had 80,000 participants, helping them connect in more impactful ways.

Please provide relevant financial data and KPIs.

While we’re still early in our monetization journey, we’re seeing steady growth in user engagement.

Financially, we’re not ready to disclose specific figures, but the trajectory looks promising as we scale our B2B and B2C operations.

Final thoughts or comments?

Every company, conference, and community now realizes that simply gathering people isn’t enough.

The real value comes from fostering deep, authentic connections.

Osmos is helping to make that happen, and we believe we’re just getting started.
